Generac 5623 GP6500 Watt Portable Generator Review
If you are looking for a power source that is reliable and strong, the Generac GP6500 Watt Portable Generator is for you. This generator works well for almost any situation, whether it’s for home, outdoor events, camping, a job site, or emergencies. It’s compact, mobile, durable, and is made by one of the most reputable brands for portable generators.
The Generac GP6500 provides 6500 continuous wattage and 8000 surge wattage. This is enough output to power a refrigerator, electric water heater, a gas furnace, a TV, and some lights. And since the water heater doesn’t constantly need to be powered, you can turn it off and use the extra power for cooking or making coffee. The GP6500 has a OHV 389cc engine with a feature that will shut it off if it’s running low on oil in order to prevent failure or damage from occurring.

They reduce the temperature and friction while the generator is running, which means that it won’t wear down nearly as much long term. This alternator also allows the generator to operate much quieter than brushed alternators.
The Generac GP6500 runs at 1/2 load for 9-10 hours at a time. It’s very easy to move around with it’s no flat tires and fold down handles, and can be used in outdoor conditions that are less than ideal. The engine is protected by a sturdy steel tube cradle, ensuring that it can’t be damaged if an accident occurs.
Noise can be an issue with portable generators, but this generator’s he low tone muffler allows the generator to run quietly.
Recommendation
The 6500 watts allows you to power a lot in your house during a power outage. It’s also excellent value, priced in the $800 range.

Customer Reviews
I bought this generator after doing a lot of research. I got it in the garage and after oil and fuel, it fired right up (1st pull). I love the weight of it with the wheels and handles. There’s not much to assemble, and it came with oil and manual. The 6500 hooked up to my house for storms and ran everything except the water heater. I am very pleased. We shall see how she holds up during use with a lot of load draw. There’s a 2 year limited warranty from Generac, and a Good Housekeeing warranty too. The generator runs for 9-10hrs at 1/2 load and only uses regular unleaded. It takes SAE 30 weight oil depending on the climate temperature. My only complaint may be the plastic rimmed wheels… and I guess I can replace them if needed. – Dan Wojcik
